Company Secretary Qualification

 

 

THE INSTITUTE

 

 

The Institute of Corporate Secretaries of Pakistan was constituted to develop and regulate the profession of company secretaries in Pakistan. The Institute is functioning regularly for the profession of company secretaries. At present the Institute has about 478 associate members and 304 fellow members & 53 Licentiate members. The affairs of the Institute of Corporate Secretaries of Pakistan are managed professionally be a National Council.

 

ELIGIBILITY FOR EXAMINATION


To become a member of the Institute of the Corporate Secretaries of Pakistan, a person has to pass the final exam conducted by the Institute twice in a year. A person who has passed the graduation examination of a university recognized by Higher Education Commission or any other qualification deemed as equivalent thereto by the Council of the Institute is eligible for admission to the examination.

However, on the basis of some qualifications and membership of other professional institutes the “Exemptions from Individual Papers(s)” are also available.

 

REGISTRATION AS A STUDENT


The examination is conducted twice a year in January and July. The registration for examination is open throughout the year. The candidates registered up to and including the month of May in a year are eligible for appearing in examination held in July of the year and those registered up to and including the month of November are eligible to appear in the examination held in January next year. Appropriate exemptions are offered to qualified CA, CMA, ACCA, CPA and others out of 13 subjects as per revised syllabus and exemption policy.

Examination & Education Committee

The Examination & Education Committee had reviewed the proposal submitted by ICPAP and on the basis of course coverage, presented a proposal before the Council for its consideration. After detail discussions and deliberations the National Council in its meeting held on August 25, 2012 has approved the proposal for granting exemptions to the bonafied members of ICPAP in following six subjects:
